"Search is Yesterday's Story" WTF?

A quote from this awesome page:

“Search is, in my mind, yesterday’s story,” said Lewis Dvorkin, chief product officer at Forbes, which recently redesigned its Web site to make it more social. “You’re finding that today’s audience is much more interested in the filter of their colleagues and friends who they trust than an algorithm produced by someone else.”

The problem with this type of thinking is that the friends and colleagues need a good search system to locate, filter and find the content they will share. Search is the everyday story -- it cannot go away or even into the background.

In many ways the value to the networks you belong is directly proportional to your skills with the digital search systems that you use to find content you filter into your social network.
